President Biden, Secretary Blinken, Secretary Mayorkas and Members of Congress:
I write to ask that you take immediate action to bring home Americans and their families who are currently trapped in Gaza. The dire humanitarian crisis affecting hundreds of Americans in the region deserves your immediate attention and leadership.
Since October, we have heard reports of our fellow Americans who have already lost loved ones and others who are doing everything in their power to bring their families to safety. We have Americans currently serving our country, stationed thousands of miles away, who worry about their parents trapped under the ruins of what was once their home. We have top surgeons saving lives in US hospitals who cannot aid and save the lives of their own American families in Gaza. We have fellow Americans in need of urgent life saving treatment, including heart surgery, who are on the brink of death. We have American students who should be worrying about finals and instead are worried about whether the next call will be the last one with their family.
We know the State Department initiated a process to get Americans and their families out of Gaza. Despite the US Government's urging, Israel is still refusing to add the names of some Americans to the Raffa Crossing list, while others who have been approved, are simply unable to safely make it to the Rafah crossing without further assistance from the US Government. Still, many Americans who have made it out of Gaza are unable to leave because the US Government has yet to grant their families humanitarian parole.
We strongly urge you to take immediate action to guarantee the safe return of our fellow Americans and their families. It is your responsibility to do everything in your power to ensure the safety of all Americans, including Palestinian Americans. Therefore, we demand that you bring them home.
I ask that you take immediate action to bring Americans home from Gaza.
